The Finnish software industry is back on the growth path, according to the latest Sykemittari (Pulse Meter) study. After years of economic uncertainty, the report brings much-needed good news: 56% of software companies plan to hire new employees this year, a 10 percentage point jump compared to the previous year. A strong 77% of companies are expecting growth, while only one in ten report facing difficulties.
Rasmus Roiha, CEO of Software Finland ry, views these figures as exceptionally positive, especially in comparison to other sectors. While acknowledging the challenges faced by some companies, Roiha emphasizes that the diverse structure of the software sector and the broader economic turnaround are driving the industry’s strong recovery. A key driver behind this growth is the increased investment activity among customers, indicating renewed confidence in the market.
Saarni Cloud Exemplifies the Power of Finnish Software Expertise
A prime example of this growth is Saarni Cloud, a rapidly expanding Finnish software group. The company has scaled its revenue from €8 million to €20 million in just a few years, achieving over 16% growth last year and aiming even higher in 2025. CEO Kaj Rintala highlights a fundamental shift in the market: Finnish companies are once again investing in growth, and this creates fertile ground for software businesses.
Saarni Cloud has seen particularly strong momentum in its SaaS business. Its HR-focused unit, Saarni HRX, posted an impressive 216% growth last year, while its largest subsidiary, Saarni Nepton, achieved a 31% increase in recurring billing. The group’s adjusted EBITDA exceeded 30%, reflecting not only growth but also robust profitability.
Rintala believes that Finland’s economic outlook has genuinely improved, and this is creating more opportunities for companies like Saarni Cloud.
